The premium foldable phone OnePlus Open was tested to see if it could withstand some severe damage.

The famous tech tester Zack Nelson, who goes by JerryRigEverything on YouTube, put the OnePlus foldable through his usual tests. He wanted to determine if it could take scratches and burns and how well it kept water and dust out.

After all the testing, the expensive device came out in pretty good shape. It held up against the examinations and proved to be tough enough for people using foldable phones.

This contender will likely hold up well when opened and closed a lot.

OnePlus Open Durability Tested For Customer's Satisfaction

The video showed OnePlus' problem with durability, which is a big deal when so much money is on the line. Still, the JerryRigEverything test tries to copy years of use, reassuring that the OnePlus Open performed reasonably well.

Usually, past OnePlus phones get scratches at level 6 and deeper lines at level 7. The OnePlus Open's outer screen was like that, even with the Ceramic Guard cover. But the inner screen got marks at level 2, able to get deeper spots even from a fingernail.

Like other phones that fold, the internal plastic screen looks delicate.

The phone boasts an aluminum outside and uses tough stuff like titanium in it. While aluminum gets scratched under a knife easily, the camera lump and back glass part did well versus scratch testing.

However, the plastic flash part didn't come out without getting hit.

OnePlus Open Bending Tests

The OnePlus Open was tested in every way, bending and twisting at all angles. This is where other folding phones usually mess up due to being too thin and their hinges not great, like the Google Pixel Fold and Motorola Razr+, which didn't do well.

When bent all the way back while still open, the OnePlus Open flexed a little past straight but went right back to normal when the device was let go.

Amazingly, the screen still worked perfectly even though it no longer snapped shut.

The phone is built strong with titanium alloy and carbon fiber in its frame and has a hinge designed very well. This is why it feels both rugged and lightweight.

OnePlus is now at the forefront of foldable phones, setting the bar very high and making it the best folding device.

The OnePlus Open kept its foldable feature working, opening and shutting, even if a little looser following the toughness test. While this check eases a few worries, how long this device will last is still iffy. Early messages on social media pointed out Open screen failures after it came out.

Given what happened with other foldable phones, problems might appear months or years later than when this phone was first provided.

If you've got your eye on a phone that folds, all signs point to the OnePlus Open being the top choice. As the most budget-friendly phone that opens like a book is currently available, its excellent skills at doing more than one task at once and very long battery life help make it the best foldable phone.

Moreover, its improved strength adds another good reason to pick it, ensuring users can keep it going for a long time.
