Updates to the Mail, Calendar, People Hub and Xbox Music apps are available for download via the Windows 8 store right this very moment. The new update brings quite a few improvements for better performance and overall visual appeal to Microsoft's core Windows 8 apps.
Features and improvements at a glance, according to Microsoft's official blog:
Calendar:
Updates to the Calendar app are more visual with an easier-to-read user interface. Users can now forward invitations, schedule assistance among other things. It's truly a far better experience when compared to what it was previously, and should make those who use the Outlook Calendar very happy.
Mail:
The improvements here are minor, but they are noticeable. The ability to delete hyperlinks is a new addition, along with performance improvements to composing email and messages. There's also support for flagging and smart contact suggestions.
People Hub:
Users can now navigate the People Hub more easily by right clicking or swiping from the top to bring up the app command. Users can now easily move between profiles, which allows users to post status updates on Twitter, see what friends have posted on the "What's New" feed. The ability to post on friends' Facebook Walls is also available.
Xbox Music:
One missing feature from Xbox Music is now finally available. There's now a separate volume control for the app, so no longer will users be forced to venture to the desktop to turn down or up the volume. There's also an option for adding all songs on Xbox Music for availability across multiple devices. The playing interface has seen some changes, but nothing drastic for better or worse.
Users who want to update only need to visit the Windows 8 Store and download the updates.
