Rumors of Apple working on a smaller iPad, dubbed the iPad Mini, and Amazon on a larger 10-inch Kindle Fire are on a spree. The recent report from The New York Times joins the rumor bandwagon, along with reports from Bloomberg and the Wall Street Journal, and confirms that Apple is working on a smaller iPad that has a less than 8-inch display.

After showing off Android 4.1 Jelly Bean, the successor to Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich (ICS), Google has releasing the source code of the new OS into Android Open Source Project (AOSP) for mass downloads. Smartphone manufacturers will not be releasing Jelly Bean updates anytime soon. But, we can expect Custom ROM developers like CyanogenMod to release Android 4.1 ROMs in near future.
