Instagram for iOS update brings custom slider to Lux feature

Instagram for iOS has received a new update that brings a few bug fixes and performance tweaks, as well as an enhanced Lux functionality.

There are not many apps out there to stir such mixed reactions from consumers, but Instagram is definitely one of them. While not everyone uses the app, most people know what Instagram is. It's widely seen as an app for hipsters, and the Internet is full of photos edited with Instagram, using all sorts of filters and effects. It's one of those apps that you either love or hate, you either don't use or overuse.

Those who do use Instagram will be happy to know that a neat new update is ready to hit the iOS version of the app, bringing along some notable improvements to make it easier and more convenient to edit photos.

Facebook updated its Instagram for iOS application with some new features designed to improve the user experience, and the biggest enhancement comes to the Lux feature within the software.

With the latest version of the app, iOS Instagram users will now be able to soften or strengthen their photos with Lux using a custom slider. The Lux feature within Instagram is represented by the sun icon and allows users to easily enhance their photos if they are over or under exposed.

While previous updates offered a pretty standard adjustment option for all images, the latest improvement seems more convenient and easy to use. The custom control slider for Lux offers a far more accurate way to enhance images, and also allows users to be more creative.

The new Lux update has rolled out only to Instagram for iOS for now, and Facebook made no mention of when or if the same enhancements will roll out to the Android or Windows Phone versions of the app. With the iOS version now updated, however, it shouldn't be too long until Instagram updates roll out to the other platforms as well.

If you use Instagram for iOS, head over to the App Store and download the latest update. If you already got it, let us know what you think of it in the comment section below.
