Microsoft Surface 2 4G LTE officially lands on AT&T’s network for $679
Alexandra BurlacuMicrosoft's Surface 2 with 4G LTE connectivity is finally ready to launch an AT&T on Tuesday, March 18, sporting a $679 price tag.
A 4G LTE-enabled Surface 2 has been long-awaited and it's now finally ready to hit commercial availability. The tablet has launched today with 64GB of internal storage capacity on board and is available from Microsoft's online and retail stores, as well Best Buy and Best buy Mobile retail locations and BestBuy.com.
"In launching this new version of Surface 2, we're adding the power and reach of AT&T's 4G LTE network to an already fantastic device," touts a blog post announcing the new model's availability. "Along with cellular connectivity, all of the refinements that went into Surface 2 are here: the increased speed and battery life, the dual-position kickstand, Microsoft Office Home & Student 2013 RT and Outlook 2013 RT, the full HD screen, the upgraded front- and rear-facing cameras and full-size USB 3.0 port, just to name a few."
"Every day, more and more people are using Surface," adds Panos Panay, Corporate Vice President of Surface. "As the device becomes a part of people's everyday lives, I get excited about the possibilities that start to open with a fully connected device."
As the blog post points out, the Surface 2 comes with notable improvements over its predecessor, the not-so-popular Surface RT. Aside from the increased speed and battery life, upgraded cameras, and other enhancements, the Surface 2 will also bring new customers 200GB of free OneDrive cloud storage from Microsoft, available for two years.
The Surface 2 is definitely more successful than the original Surface RT, and a LTE model was highly anticipated.
"Many of you have told me that you'd like the capability to be online, even when Wi-Fi isn't available, so you can work, play, share, and communicate wherever you are. In simple terms, we are CONTINUOUSLY being asked for a Surface that allows you to use mobile broadband," Panay further explained.
As previously mentioned, the 64GB mobile broadband-ready Surface 2 is available for purchase starting March 18 through Microsoft's online and retail stores, Best Buy's online and retail stores, as well as a number of U.S. commercial resellers. The AT&T 4G LTE Surface 2 comes with a $679 estimated retail price (ERP) and has just gone on sale.
