AT&T Samsung Galaxy S5 pre-orders go live, U.S. Cellular pre-orders offer Google Play perk
Alexandra BurlacuAT&T and U.S. Cellular have started taking pre-orders for the new Samsung Galaxy S5 flagship smartphone on Friday, March 21.
Samsung unveiled its latest flagship back at the Mobile World Congress (MWC) 2014, introducing one of the most highly anticipated handsets of this year. The Samsung Galaxy S5 comes with high-end specs and features and has stirred plenty of interest already, although it also drew some criticism over its plastic design.
AT&T is the first U.S. carrier to offer more details regarding the Galaxy S5 release, complete with pricing information. The carrier has started taking pre-orders for the smartphone on Friday, March 21, and pricing varies depending on whether you make your purchase on a two-year contract, under the AT&T Next plan, or contract-free for full price.
The AT&T Samsung Galaxy S5 costs $199.99 with a two-year agreement, $25 per month with the Next 18 plan, or $32.50 per month with Next 12. Those who prefer to purchase the smartphone outright, meanwhile, will have to shell out $649.99. Despite opening up pre-orders and offering full pricing details, AT&T has yet to reveal when it will actually start shipping the smartphone. For now, the carrier only said that pre-orders will start shipping in early April, with no specific date. Head here to pre-order the AT&T Samsung Galaxy S5.
AT&T also announced that interested customers can pre-order the Samsung Galaxy Gear 2, Gear 2 Neo, and Gear Fit wearables as well. The Galaxy gear 2 comes with a $299 price tag, while the Gear 2 Neo and Gear Fit cost $199. AT&T customers who purchase a Galaxy S5 will also get $50 off the price of a Gear 2 or Gear 2 Neo.
U.S. Cellular will also be taking pre-orders for the Galaxy S5, as well as the Galaxy Gear 2, Gear 2 Neo, and Gear Fit smart accessories. The carrier announced that it will start taking pre-orders on March 21, while in-store availability will commence on April 11.
The U.S. Cellular Samsung Galaxy S5 is available for $199.99 with a two-year contract, and the carrier also announced that pre-order customers will get a $50 Google Play store credit. The carrier offered no pricing details for the wearables for now, but said that the Galaxy S5 "will be available in stores for purchase on April 11 along with the Samsung Gear 2, Samsung Gear 2 Neo and Samsung Gear Fit."
