T-Mobile opens Samsung Galaxy S5 pre-orders, teases unboxing (VIDEO)
Alexandra BurlacuT-Mobile has officially started taking pre-orders for the Samsung Galaxy S5 and has also offered an unboxing video to tease the new flagship smartphone.
Some U.S. carriers such as AT&T and U.S. Cellular have opened up pre-orders for the Samsung Galaxy S5 last week, while T-Mobile chose to wait a little while longer. Up until Monday, March 24, the Magenta carrier only allowed users to pre-register their interest in the handset to receive further details closer to launch, but T-Mobile has now officially started accepting pre-orders as well.
Interested customers can now pre-order the T-Mobile Samsung Galaxy S5 both online and in retail stores and can purchase the smartphone for $0 down, followed by 24 equal monthly payments of $27.50. Those who prefer to pay for the handset outright, meanwhile, will have to shell out $660.
The Samsung Galaxy S5 will not be shipping until April 11, but T-Mobile is teasing the benefits of pre-ordering by the end of this month. According to the carrier, those who pre-order by March 31 will be among the first to get the brand new Samsung flagship "guaranteed."
Moreover, T-Mobile is also offering to pay your early termination fees (ETF) if you decide to join its network by switching from another carrier. The self-titled "UNcarrier" boasts that it's "all about getting you un-stuck" so you can enjoy the "contract freedom" you can find on its network. T-Mobile will cover up to five lines of service.
As expected, the carrier is offering the 16GB version of the Samsung Galaxy S5 for $0 down, with no mention of other configurations yet. Interested buyers can choose between Charcoal Black and Shimmery White color options for now, with the Blue and Gold versions expected to arrive later.
As a reminder, the Samsung Galaxy S5 sports a 5.1-inch full HD display, a quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 801 processor, 2GB of RAM, and a 16-megapixel rear camera, among other specs. The smartphone runs the latest Android 4.4.2 KitKat out of the box and is certified for dust and water resistance. As expected, it comes loaded with several neat Samsung apps, including the popular S Health, and it also boasts an integrated heart rate monitor.
