The much-touted Sony Xperia Z2 is ready to make its debut in Canada soon, as carrier Bell has already started taking pre-orders for the device.

The Sony Xperia Z2 has reportedly seen great demand, so great in fact that the company has faced some issues in trying to keep up. At one point Sony pulled pre-orders in the UK and reckoned that the device's launch might see a slight delay, but everything seems to be back on track now.

Not only are European orders expected to ship in May, but the Sony Xperia Z2 is now ready to make its debut in Canada as well. Bell Canada has started taking pre-orders for the Xperia Z2 in the country for C$179.95 when agreeing to sign a two-year agreement with the carrier. Bell has yet to offer an exact launch date, but the device is expected to go on sale in the first week of next month, likely on May 5.

Interested buyers who prefer not to commit to a lengthy contract can also purchase the Sony Xperia Z2 outright, but they will have to shell out C$699.95. Bell's version of the smartphone is a carrier exclusive in the country, but Sony will also be selling the handset unlocked so that more interested buyers get access to it. The unlocked Sony Xperia Z2 will go on sale in Sony Stores with a $699 price tag, but the company has yet to provide exact dates.

As a reminder, the Sony Xperia Z2 sports a 5.2-inch display with a full HD resolution of 1920 x 1080 pixels and packs a powerful quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 801 processor under the hood, clocked at 2.3GHz and paired with 3GB of RAM. Other specs include 16GB of internal storage capacity, a microSD card slot for additional memory, and a high-end 20-megapixel rear camera for photos and videos. A large 3,000 mAh battery will keep things up and running and the smartphone runs the latest Android 4.4.2 KitKat straight out of the box. As expected, the handset is also dust- and water-resistant for extra durability.

As previously mentioned, Bell doesn't offer any launch date for the Sony Xperia Z2, only noting that orders will ship as soon as the smartphone becomes available. If you want to be among the first to get the Xperia Z2 powerhouse in Canada, head over to Bell's website at this link and pre-order the handset.
