MacBook Air 2013 models get notable price cuts after refreshed versions launch
Alexandra BurlacuAs Apple refreshed its MacBook Air models a few days ago, several retailers have started to drop the prices of the older versions of the laptops.
The refreshed MacBook Air lineup does not bring any major changes, but it does come with slightly faster processors and $100 lower price tags. In light of that slight upgrade, it was only natural that the 2013 MacBook Air models would get price cuts as well, in order to make them look more attractive to potential buyers.
As previously mentioned, a number of retailers have started to slash the prices for the 2013 MacBook Air models, but only the most significant discounts are listed below. You may find several other deals, but these are the most prominent.
The new offers listed below are up to $200 off for the 2013 MacBook Air models, but that discount is compared to the prices from last year. In other words, as Apple already slashed $100 off its refreshed models compared to the 2013 prices, the prices that retailers now list give you a $100 discount compared to the refreshed models.
The 11-inch MacBook Air with a 1.3GHz i5 processor, 4GB of RAM and 128GB flash storage (model MD711LL/A) is now $799 from Best Buy and B&H Photo, or $844 from MacMall. Meanwhile, the same model but with 256GB of flash storage (MD712LL/A) is $999 from Best Buy and B&H Photo, and $1,044 from MacMall.
Moving on to the larger model of the 2013 MacBook Air, the version with a 1.3GHz i5 processor, 4GB of RAM, and 128GB of flash storage (MD760LL/A) is $899 from Best Buy or B&H Photo, while the larger-capacity model with 256B of flash storage (MD761LL/A) is $1,099 from Best Buy or B&H Photo, and $1,144 from MacMall.
Aside from these retailers, Apple is also offering significantly lower prices, but for the refurbished models. Apple's online refurbished store currently lists the entry-level 11-inch MacBook Air (2013) with a $719 price tag, while the entry-level 13-inch model is $799. Keep in mind, however, that such deals for refurbished models are always limited and don't last for long.
For the sake of comparison, the refreshed MacBook Air models now start at $899 for the 11-inch version and $999 for the 13-inch model from the Apple Online Store.
