Sony Xperia T2 Ultra hits Europe after all, now available in the UK and other countries
Alexandra BurlacuSony apparently had a change of heart regarding the launch plans for its Xperia T2 Ultra, as the phablet has now arrived in the UK and other European countries.
When the Sony Xperia T2 Ultra made its debut early this year, the general belief was that the phablet would become available across Europe. Sony later decided not to make it available in the region, affecting a number of retailers across the UK and Europe who had already opened up pre-orders for the device. When Sony decided not to launch the Xperia T2 Ultra in Europe, those retailers had to pull their pre-order offers, which naturally caused some inconvenience.
The massive Xperia T2 Ultra is already available in a number of regions around the world, and it also comes in a dual-SIM version called the Xperia T2 Ultra Dual. Now that Sony apparently changed its mind, it looks like the Xperia T2 Ultra is going to be available in Europe after all. The device already appears as in stock in various places.
The official Sony Mobile Store, for instance, now shows the Xperia T2 Ultra as available with a £319.99 price tag in the UK. In other European countries, including France, Italy, Netherlands, Spain, and Sweden, the device costs roughly €399. For the time being, the Sony Xperia T2 Ultra doesn't seem to be available in Germany, and it remains unclear why not, or when or if it will hit the country.
In some of the above-listed countries, the Sony Xperia T2 Ultra is available in black, white, and purple color options, while others are only selling the black or white versions. The Sony Mobile Store UK doesn't list the purple version.
As a reminder, the Sony Xperia T2 Ultra phablet sports a 6-inch IPS LCD display with a resolution of 1280 x 720, and a pixel density of 245 ppi. Under the hood, the device packs a quad-core processor clocked at 1.4GHz, Adreno 305 graphics, 1GB of RAM, and 8GB of internal storage capacity with a microSD card slot for additional memory of up to 32GB.
Other specs include a 13-megapixel rear camera with 1080p video recording capabilities, a 1.1-megapixel front shooter, and a 3,000 mAh battery. On the software side, the Sony Xperia T2 Ultra runs Android 4.3 Jelly Bean out of the box, but will receive an upgrade to the newer Android 4.4.2 KitKat sometime in the future.
