The new Samsung Galaxy Tab 4 8.0 will officially hit Verizon Wireless' lineup on Thursday, June 26, the carrier has announced.

The tablet will cost $379.99, which is quite a steep price tag, especially considering that it's for customers willing to sign a two-year service agreement with Verizon Wireless, but the carrier will also offer some promotional pricing for a limited time.

In its announcement, Verizon is mainly touting the new Samsung Galaxy Tab 4 8.0 as a family tablet, highlighting the great benefits of the tablet's Multi-User feature. With Multi-User, multiple accounts can serve different people, allowing each user to enjoy their own personalized experience on the tablet without affecting the other users. Of course, this capability is not unheard of, as most tablets running Android 4.2 Jelly Bean or newer support multiple users, but Verizon is banking on this feature to make the slate more appealing to family users. The carrier also highlights the slate's WatchOn app, as well as its connectivity.

"A family tablet also calls for family entertainment. The Galaxy Tab 4 8.0 can act as a TV guide and remote control with the WatchON app. Families can find their favorite shows, bookmark them, and set alerts so they never miss an episode," Verizon touts in its announcement. "And the Galaxy Tab 4 8.0 is XLTE Ready, which means families can take advantage of faster peak speeds and greater network capacity in cities coast to coast, whether for posting family photos online or watching a funny viral video together."

As a reminder, the Samsung Galaxy Tab 4 8.0 sports an 8-inch TFT LCD display with a resolution of 1280 x 800 pixels and packs a quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon processor clocked at 1.2GHz and paired with 1.5GB of RAM. The slate comes with 16GB of internal storage capacity, as well as microSD card support for additional memory of up to 64GB. Other specs include a 3-megapixel rear camera, a 1.3-megapixel front shooter, and a 4,450 mAh battery to keep things up and running. Connectivity options consist of Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 4.0, 4G LTE, and GPS.

As previously mentioned, the Samsung Galaxy Tab 4 8.0 will be available from Verizon starting with June 26, sporting a $379.99 price tag on a two-year contract. For a limited time, however, Verizon will offer the tablet at a lower $279.99 price point on contract. Lastly, interested customers can also add the slate to an existing More Everything plan for $10 per month.
