LG G Watch, Samsung Gear Live launch rocking Android Wear: Specs, Features, Pricing & Availability
Alexandra BurlacuGoogle has officially unveiled its new Android Wear, introducing two neat launch vehicles: the LG G Watch and the Samsung Gear Live.
Both of these smartwatches feature rectangular screens and aim to set a standard for how Android wearable devices should function. The LG G Watch and the Samsung Gear Live are already up for pre-order, while the Moto 360 smartwatch from Motorola will follow "later this summer."
The always-on LG G Watch comes with a $229 price tag and will make its initial debut in 12 countries, including the U.S., the UK, Canada, France, Germany, Italy, Spain, South Korea, and Japan. The gadget will also hit retailers soon afterwards, launching in 27 markets including Mexico, Brazil, Australia, New Zealand, Singapore, and Russia.
The Samsung Gear Live, meanwhile comes with a $200 price tag. Both the Gear Live and the LG G Watch are now available for pre-order from the Google Play store in select regions, and both will ship from July 7. Both smartwatches will pair with smartphones running Android 4.3 or higher.
LG G Watch specs and features
The LG G Watch sports an always-on 1.65-inch IPS display with a resolution of 280 x 280 pixels and packs a 1.2GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon 400 processor under the hood. The gadget will also boast IP67 certification, which makes it dust- and water-resistant for up to 30 minutes in 1m of water. Other specs include 4GB of internal storage capacity, 512MB of RAM, a 400 mAh battery, Bluetooth 4.0 connectivity, and a 9-axis sensor. The smartwatch will come in Black Titan and White Gold color options and users will be able to personalize it with any standard 22mm strap.
Samsung Gear Live specs and features
The new Android Wear-powered Samsung Gear Live looks very similar to the Gear 2. It sports a 1.63-inch Super AMOLED display with a resolution of 320 x 320 pixels, packs a 1.2GHz processor paired with 512MB of RAM, and comes with 4GB of internal storage capacity. Other specs and features include Bluetooth 4.0 connectivity, a 300 mAh battery, a heart-rate monitor, IP67 certification for dust and water resistance, and other sensors such as gyroscope, accelerometer, and compass. The Samsung Gear Live comes in Black and Wine Red color options.
