New iPhone 6 leaked images show curved display for 4.7-inch model
Alexandra BurlacuThe purported iPhone 6 has leaked extensively in recent weeks, and now the 4.7-inch model has popped up online again, this time showing a curved display.
The iPhone 6 is one of the most highly-anticipated devices of this year, and there's no shortage of leaks and rumors to boost anticipation. While Apple has so far stuck to smaller screen sizes, the company is widely expected to finally launch larger-screen iPhones this year. According to rumors, the iPhone 6 will come in two large-screen models, one with a 4.7-inch panel and the other with a massive 5.5-inch display.
The 5.5-inch model has appeared in a couple of leaked images as well, but it's the 4.7-inch version that surfaced the most. The latest leak also shows the purported 4.7-inch iPhone 6. Despite a slew of leaked images of alleged iPhone 6 mockups, dummy units and leaked components, however, nothing is official so far and none of the leaks seem to tell the full story.
Nevertheless, the purported smartphone continues to pop up and now the folks over at 9to5Mac have received some intriguing photos, allegedly showing the glass display of the 4.7-inch iPhone 6. The publication received these images from tipster Sonny Dickson, who accurately leaked the iPhone 5C and iPhone 5S back in 2013, before they became official.
"Apple is also working on an even larger 5.5-inch 'phablet' model, but we do not have photos of the screen covers for that model," 9to5Mac further points out.
These newly-leaked images showing the purported 4.7-inch iPhone 6 seem to confirm a previous rumor claiming that the handset would sport a curved display. More specifically, the iPhone 6 would have the display curve around the edges, rather than curving like the Samsung Galaxy Round or the LG G Flex.
Aside from the curved display edges, these images don't really reveal anything else surprising. The cutouts show space for the speaker, camera, proximity light sensor, and home button (most likely with Touch ID).
On the other hand, it remains to be seen what will change when the final version is ready. Until then, keep in mind that these are just leaked mockups and nothing is officially confirmed at this point. The iPhone 6 is expected to debut later this year, likely in September, and the 4.7-inch model may launch first.
