Samsung Galaxy S5 Mini goes up for pre-order in UK
Alexandra BurlacuThe newly-unveiled Samsung Galaxy S5 Mini is already available for pre-order in the UK, sporting a £369 price tag including taxes.
The Samsung Galaxy S5 Mini was rumored to go up for pre-order in the UK next week, but one retailer has already jumped the gun and lists the device as available.
UK retailer Mobile Fun now has the Samsung Galaxy S5 Mini available for pre-order, offering the SIM-free, no-contract model for £369 including taxes.
While the Samsung Galaxy S5 Mini does come with slightly watered-down specs compared to the original flagship, it also retains some of the premium features such as the fingerprint sensor, heart-rate monitor, IP67 rating for dust- and water resistance, as well as the perforated design.
"We always strive to develop devices that appeal to a range of consumer tastes and styles," Samsung CEO JK Shin touted in the press release earlier this week, when announcing the new device. "The Galaxy S5 Mini allows consumers to enjoy the iconic design and essential useful features of the Galaxy S5 through a maximized minimalism approach."
In terms of specs, the new Samsung Galaxy S5 Mini comes with a 4.5-inch Super AMOLED 720p display, a quad-core processor clocked at 1.4GHz, and 1.5GB of RAM. The smartphone further has 16GB of internal storage capacity, microSD support for additional memory of up to 64GB, an 8-megapixel rear camera with auto focus and LED flash, and a 2.1-megapixel front camera.
Premium features include the popular Ultra Power Saving Mode, as well as Private and Kids Mode, in addition to the aforementioned heart-rate monitor and fingerprint reader.
Samsung did not offer an exact launch date for the Samsung Galaxy S5 Mini, but the smartphone is expected to hit retail later this month. It also remains unclear at this point just how much the handset will cost with various mobile carriers, but more information should become available shortly.
For now, interested buyers in the UK can pre-order the Samsung Galaxy S5 Mini from Mobile Fun at this link. The smartphone appears to be available in Electric Blue and Shimmery White color options on the retailer's website, with no mention of the Charcoal Black and Copper Gold models.
