Sony Xperia Z3 Compact leaks in press shots ahead of IFA 2014 debut
Alexandra BurlacuIt's time for some last-minute leaks before the IFA 2014 trade show kicks off in full force, and we now have some info on the Sony Xperia Z3 Compact.
Sony is expected to unveil a handful of devices at the show, and the Xperia Z3 Compact is one of them. The company revolutionized the whole "Mini" trend when it launched its Xperia Z1 Compact smartphone, packing powerful internals in a smaller package with little compromise.
The company was expected at some point to release an Xperia Z2 Compact, but rumors later suggested that it would skip that iteration and go straight for the Xperia Z3 Compact. Those rumors were apparently true, as a Z2 Compact never made it to market, and a Z3 Compact is apparently on its way.
The folks over at Ausdroid have now obtained some exclusive press shots of the upcoming Sony Xperia Z3, and confirm that the handset it indeed set to make an imminent debut.
In terms of specifications, the report claims that the Xperia Z3 Compact will sport a 4.6-inch display with a 720p resolution, a quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 801 processor clocked at 2.5GHz, a high-end 20.7-megapixel rear camera, and a 2,600 mAh battery to keep things up and running.
In an interesting twist, Ausdroid's source also revealed that the Sony Xperia Z3 Compact will use a Nano SIM, not a Micro SIM as expected. When it comes to available color options, the handset will reportedly come in white, black, orange, and green paint jobs. Availability by region remains unknown at this point, and it also remains unclear just when the Xperia Z3 Compact will be ready to make its commercial debut.
Sony should offer some details in this regards when it officially announces the Xperia Z3 Compact, and we'll bring you the latest news as soon as they become available. The company is also expected to introduce a new Xperia Z3 flagship, an Xperia Z3 Tablet Compact, and two new Android Wear-powered gadgets at the show - the Sony SmartWatch 3 and the SmartBand Talk. It all remains unconfirmed for now, but we'll know everything straight from the source very soon. Stay tuned.
