Samsung Galaxy Grand Prime selfie phone leaks: Images, specs, purported launch timeframe
Alexandra BurlacuAn unannounced Samsung smartphone called the Galaxy Grand Prime has leaked online and it seems targeted at selfie addicts, as per the latest trend.
Samsung has never been too shy about flooding the market with all sorts of devices to suit every taste and budget, and the latest leak further confirms the company's dedication to covering all fronts. Smartphone manufacturers have become more focused on the whole selfie trend as of late, releasing handsets with powerful front shooters, and Samsung is apparently ready to join the party with a selfie phone of its own.
The latest leak shows what could be the newest member of the Samsung Galaxy Grand family of devices and suggests that the next iteration will be a selfie phone. A purported Samsung Galaxy Grand Prime has popped up on Vietnamese site TheGioididong (via GSM Arena), complete with images, spec details, and even a launch timeframe.
The leaked images show a device very much in line with other members of the Galaxy Grand family, sporting the same design language. The handset reportedly has a 5-inch display with a qHD resolution of 960 x 540 pixels, which means a notable downgrade from the Galaxy Grand 2's 5.25-inch HD display with 720p resolution. Otherwise, all specs remain identical.
The purported Samsung Galaxy Grand Prime reportedly boasts a high-end 5-megapixel front camera, which suggests that it may launch as one of the company's selfie phones. Other specifications include a 5-megapixel rear shooter, a quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 400 processor under the hood, 1GB of RAM, 8GB of internal storage capacity, and Android 4.4 KitKat rocking the software side. MicroSD support should also be on board for additional memory.
According to the report, this purported Samsung Galaxy Grand Prime selfie phone should make its debut in Vietnam as soon as next month, which means that it could hit other markets as well shortly after that. With no official word from Samsung, however, it all remains in the rumor state at this point. As always in such cases, make sure to take all leaks, rumors, and speculation with a grain of salt. We'll keep you up to date as soon as more details become available, so stay tuned.
