Motorola Nexus 6 reportedly set to hit Verizon Wireless

Motorola Nexus 6 reportedly set to hit Verizon Wireless

The Google Nexus 6 from Motorola continues to leak on a regular basis, and the latest news now claims it will hit Verizon Wireless in the U.S. when it launches.

The Motorola Nexus 6, also referred to as the Nexus X or the Motorola "Shamu," is one of the most highly anticipated devices of this year. The handset is expected to pack high-end specs and features all around, while also delivering the much-touted Nexus experience that guarantees timely updates as soon as a new version of Android comes out.

Google's Nexus family has enjoyed great success so far and its new lineup of devices is expected to debut soon. The purported Motorola Nexus 6 smartphone, as well as the alleged HTC Nexus 9 tablet, have leaked on several occasions so far, with various reports trying to paint a picture of what to expect.

The latest news regarding the Nexus 6 now comes from PocketNow, which claims to have learned from an anonymous source that Verizon Wireless will be selling the device once it makes its debut.

"According to one of our sources, the Nexus 6 will find a surprising home, with Verizon planning to welcome the Android to its lineup," PocketNow reports.

A Verizon launch for the nexus 6 is surprising because Big Red has not been so eager to embrace Nexus devices so far. The carrier offered the old Galaxy Nexus, but skipped both the Nexus 4 and the Nexus 5. At the same time, while it offered the Nexus 7 last year, it took forever to overcome issues so that users could get their tablets activated.

Nevertheless, Verizon Wireless is still the biggest U.S. carrier due to its wide coverage range and impressive customer base, and welcoming the Nexus 6 to its portfolio could benefit both the carrier and consumers.

"According to this insider information, this time Verizon's really ready to embrace the next Nexus phone, and is gearing-up to add the Nexus 6 to its selection of devices," the PocketNow report further notes.

The publication doesn't have any information on actual availability, which means that it remains unclear at this point just when the Nexus 6 would make its way to Verizon's network.

It's also worth pointing out that no official information is available for now, so everything is based solely on leaks and speculation. As always in such cases, it's best to take this news with a grain of salt.
