Google Nexus 6 UK launch reportedly delayed until December
Alexandra BurlacuThe brand new Google Nexus 6 smartphone powerhouse may face some delays in the UK, as it may not hit the country until December.
After the rumor mill spent ages buzzing about the new-generation Nexus devices, Google finally took the wraps off its latest products and unveiled the highly-anticipated Nexus 6 smartphone and Nexus 9 tablet, as well as an Android TV-powered Nexus Player.
The new Nexus 6 comes from Motorola and boast notable improvements on all fronts compared to its predecessor, and comes as the very first phablet part of the Nexus lineup.
The company announced that the new Motorola Nexus 6 would go up for pre-order in the U.S. on Oct. 29, with a $649 price tag for the 32GB models and $699 for the higher-capacity 64GB versions. However, Google offered no details whatsoever regarding the Nexus 6 launch in the UK, and we may have some details as to why.
The Google Play Store for the UK currently lists the new HTC Nexus 9 tablet, but the Nexus 6 is notably missing. Paul O'Brien from MoDaCo now claims to have some information on the matter, but it's definitely not good news for UK customers.
"Think you're getting a Nexus 6 in the UK before December? Think again!" O'Brien tweeted, without offering any additional explanation as to why the device will face delays in the country. When asked why he said UK consumers should forget about the smartphone before December, O'Brien simply replied "Because that's the information I have."
This could explain why Google has not yet listed the new Motorola Nexus 6 smartphone on its UK Play Store, and why no announcements surfaced regarding the device's launch in the country. This may mean that other countries could see similar delays as well, although nothing is confirmed at this point.
As previously mentioned, Google offered no official information as to when the Nexus 6 will make its commercial debut in the UK, which means that nothing is clear for now. O'Brien may prove to be accurate regarding the smartphone's delay in the country, but it is nonetheless advisable to take this news with a grain of salt until formal confirmation.
