Amazon Fire Phone 32GB unlocked now just $199, includes one-year Prime membership
Alexandra BurlacuThe Amazon Fire Phone is now available for the lowest price ever, selling for just $199 in a 32GB unlocked model.
Amazon launched its very first smartphone this summer, introducing an intriguing Fire Phone with too hefty a price tag for what it had to offer. The Fire Phone launched at a $649 price point contract-free, or $199 with a two-year contract.
The phone didn't sell as well as the company likely hoped for, and Amazon eventually slashed $200 off the price tag back in September. The company even acknowledged earlier this month that it got the price wrong, and that was a main reason for disappointing sales.
Amazon is now offering an even better deal for the phone, slashing the price of the unlocked Fire Phone to just $199 in its latest effort to boost sales. Moreover, that $199 will also include a full year of Amazon Prime membership, which normally costs $99, so that essentially means the unlocked Fire Phone is now $99.
For those unfamiliar with the device, the Amazon Fire Phone sports a 4.7-inch HD display with a resolution of 1280 x 720 pixels and packs a quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 processor under the hood. Other specs include 2GB of RAM, 32GB of internal storage capacity, and a 13-megapixel rear camera with optical image stabilization, LED flash and HDR.
On the software side, the smartphone runs Amazon's Fire OS, which is a custom version of Android. Highlight features of the Fire Phone include Dynamic Perspective, Mayday, and Firefly.
If so far the Fire Phone was not a very attractive option due to its price tag, the new discount now makes it more appealing than ever to prospective buyers.
It's worth pointing out, however, that the unlocked Amazon Fire Phone available now for just $199 is a GSM model. According to Amazon, the smartphone is compatible with all GSM networks, including AT&T, T-Mobile, Walmart Family Mobile, MetroPCS, Brightspot, Simple Mobile, Mobal, Net10, Straight Talk, h20 Wireless, and OneSimCard. The Fire Phone is not compatible with Sprint, Verizon Wireless, and U.S. Cellular.
