Sony Xperia Z3 Dual, Z1 range, Z Ultra Android 5.0 Lollipop rolling out now
Alexandra BurlacuThe Sony Xperia Z3 Dual, Xperia Z1 range, and the Xperia Z Ultra are officially getting a taste of Lollipop now.
The company promised to update its entire Xperia lineup of devices to the last major version of Android, and several gadgets have already received Android 5.0 Lollipop. Sony has provided regular updates on its progress regarding the Lollipop rollout, posting news on its blog regarding which devices are currently receiving the treat and which are set to follow afterwards.
Just a few days ago, the company announced that the Xperia Z1 range, along with the Xperia Z3 Dual and the Xperia Z Ultra, were next in line to get the treat next week. Sure enough, Sony is now making good on its word and the update has officially started rolling out on Monday, April 13, to the devices.
"Our Android 5.0, Lollipop upgrade continues from today for Xperia Z3 Dual, Xperia Z1, Xperia Z1 Compact and Xperia Z Ultra, and next week for Xperia T2 Ultra and Xperia C3 (and both dual SIM variants) - rolling out to markets worldwide," Sony announced in a company blog post on Monday, April 13.
"After that, it's the original Xperia Z Series; Xperia Z, Xperia ZL, Xperia ZR and Xperia Tablet Z - starting in a few weeks time... stay tuned, as we'll announce the rollout launch right here."
As a reminder, the new Android 5.0 Lollipop update will bring a number of neat tweaks and improvements, as well as a few new features. Material design elements, Privacy Mode, battery life optimizations, actionable lock screen notifications, and Smart Lock are just a few highlights of the new OS version, but Android 5.0 Lollipop will bring many more goodies to the table.
As always, the update will roll out in stages and it will take a few days to reach all scheduled devices, but the rollout has nonetheless kicked off and will expand its availability shortly.
