AT&T LG G Flex launching on April 24, costs $200 more than Sprint version
Alexandra BurlacuThe LG G Flex 2 curved-display powerhouse is on its way to AT&T, set to launch on the carrier's network this Friday, April 24.
LG has officially unveiled its new G Flex 2 smartphone at the CES 2015 trade show back in January, boasting impressive specifications and notable improvements over the original LG G Flex.
In the U.S., Sprint and U.S. Cellular have already been offering the LG G Flex 2 for a while now, and AT&T now joins the party as well.
AT&T will be offering the LG G Flex 2 for $299.99 with a two-year contract, $709 contract-free, or with monthly installment plans. The handset will cost $0 down and $23.64 per month for 30 months, $29.55 per month for 24 months, or $35.45 per month for 20 months with AT&T Next plans.
As a reminder, the new-generation LG G Flex 2 sports a 5.5-inch flexible P-OLED display with a full HD resolution of 1920 x 1080 pixels and packs a 64-bit octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 810 processor under the hood, paired with a hefty 3GB of RAM for a fast and fluid performance. Other specs include 32GB of internal storage capacity, microSD card support for additional memory of up to 128GB, a 13-megapixel rear camera, and a 2.1-megapixel front shooter. Connectivity options include Wi-Fi and 4G LTE, and the smartphone ships with Android 5.0 Lollipop out of the box.
The LG G Flex 2 also has a neat trick up its sleeve, as it comes with a self-healing coating that allows it to automatically recover from small scuffs and scratches that normally occur with daily use. The original LG G Flex came with this feature as well, but the new iteration takes the technology to the next level and allows the smartphone's casing to recover faster.
AT&T customers will be able to purchase the LG G Flex 2 starting this Friday, April 24, but the carrier doesn't have the best prices. As previously mentioned, the LG G Flex 2 has already been available for purchase from Sprint since March, and it's worth pointing out that AT&T will be charging more for the same device. More specifically, the AT&T LG G Flex 2 costs $100 more on-contract and $200 more contract-free compared to the Sprint version, which costs $199.99 with a two-year contract and $504 at full retail price.
