Samsung is widely expected to launch a new-generation Galaxy Tab S2 series of premium tablets soon, and the company apparently confirmed it.

Last year, Samsung raised the bar for what to expect from its tablets when it launched its premium Galaxy Tab S series, which boasted the highest-end displays ever on a Samsung slate.

Just recently, the rumor mill started churning more intensely in regards to the next-generation Galaxy Tab S2 and Samsung itself has now confirmed it, seemingly by accident.

More specifically, the official changelog of the Hancom Office Hshow 2014 app, which serves to open Microsoft Office files and PDFs, has mentioned an intriguing reference. The app comes pre-installed out of the box on Samsung Galaxy smartphones, and the latest changelog claims that the new app version now supports the Galaxy Tab S2, as well as the Galaxy Tab A (see image above). Samsung has not officially announced plans to launch a Galaxy Tab S2, but this reference clearly confirms the tablet's existence.

Twitter user @Faryaab posted a screenshot of the changelog, as cited by SamMobile and seen in the image above.

Previous rumors, meanwhile, have tried to paint a picture from what to expect from the next-generation Galaxy Tab S2, hinting at exciting specs. Based on leaks and reports so far, the Samsung Galaxy Tab S2 is expected to come in two variants with different screen sizes - one with an 8-inch display and the other with a larger 9.7-inch screen.

The slates are further expected to rock Super AMOLED displays with a resolution of 2048 x 1536 pixels, 64-bit Exynos processors under the hood, 3GB of RAM, 32GB of internal storage capacity, microSD card support for additional memory, 8-megapixel rear cameras, and 2.1-megapixel front shooter.

The upcoming Samsung Galaxy Tab S2 series is further rumored to come in both Wi-Fi and LTE variants and run Android 5.0 Lollipop out of the box. Rumor has it that Samsung may officially unveil the new tablets sometime in June, and they may be thinner than Apple's much-touted iPad Air. In terms of availability, the new Samsung Galaxy Tab S2 should see a global release in various markets including the U.S., Canada, Europe, China, Latin America, Hong Kong, Korea, and India.

We'll make sure to keep you up to date as soon as more information comes to light, so stay tuned.
