Green charging booths pilots in Somerville and Boston

In a bid to help Mother Nature and use more "green" products, Somerville and Boston both installed WrightGrid's sun-reliant stations that look like a phone booth from the future. These futuristic looking solar powered charging stations for handheld devices can be used by anyone, anytime their batteries run low.
Somerville, as part of a two month pilot test run that began earlier this month, has placed these stations in three locations which are Davis Square, Union Square, and Ball Square. The stations were launched through Somerville's GreenTech program which offers energy efficient businesses a chance to test their "green products" in the community.
WrightGrid couldn't contain their excitement on launching their solar powered charging stations in the city where they first started. According to their founder Ryan Wright, they have been grateful to partner with a forward thinking municipal.
As for Somerville having these stations, it gives opportunity to their citizens to recharge their phones especially in an emergency situation. Somerville's spokesman Daniel DeMaina further states that the booth also has lockers so secure that he can just leave his phone behind, charge it, then go out to continue whatever his activities are for the day.
Meanwhile, Boston also launched the WrightGrid booths at two locations. One of which is at the City Hall Plaza Tuesday, as part of a similar project sponsored by Mayor Martin K. Walsh's office, and the other one is at Babson College. The Mayor stated that by having the WrightGrid stations at the City Hall Plaza that allows people to power up their devices in a secure, in a sustainable cost-free way, they are helping them stay connected to their loved ones.
Each WrightGrid booth features a 150 watt solar panel. Inside the booth are multiple compartments, each having a cord for charging and a secure lock. They can just leave their phones charging while continuing running their errands, then after finishing up with their activities, be able to return to a fully charged phone. Imagine charging your phone for free in a completely secured place that also helps Mother Earth. How amazing can that be? One can only hope that these project's pilot run be successful enough to enable it to also be launch in other places too. And maybe this is one thing that every place would need in the future.
