Facebook’s Notify to break out soon!

Facebook’s Notify to break out soon!

Mary Cris Balancio

Facebook is really bent on making the news - again! It seems like every time they have something new, they do sure make themselves the talk of the town. So if you are not expecting to see something about them this week, sorry but you're wrong.

Did you know that Facebook is about to launch another app? It seems like it's just "a few hours ago" when they have introduced their latest feature and now we are hit with talks that they are about to launch another one.

The new standalone app, which is said to come out by next week, will be featuring real time news contents. Facebook has reportedly partnered with media outlets such as CBS, The Washington Post, Mashable, Billboard, CNN, Comedy Central and Vogue for this app. The app is rumoured to be called "Notify".

The Notify app is developed to be different from other apps similar to it. Instead of just providing content and waiting for a user to visit the section where that certain content is; it will alert the user instead about new stories as they are added into the page.

The Notify app is said to be Facebook's answer to Apple's pre-installed "News" app on iOS 9 that, according to Apple, has garnered over 40 million of users already since it was first launched. Twitter has also launched a similar feature which they called "Moments" which features curated stories from the social network's mobile app and from the web as well.

Before the Notify app, Facebook has already added "Instant Articles" which features pre-loaded content from various publishers they have partnered with. The contents are arranged in a way that the users can read the story with amazingly zero loading time. Aside from Instant Articles, Facebook also supports its standalone version called Paper that has a news-centric browser within.

Aside from Apple and Twitter, the new Notify app from Facebook looks like it will not take any longer for them to be able to compete against Flipboard, Yahoo News Digest and Snapchat's Discover and the competitors better do something soon. It's clear that Facebook seems to be trying to spread its influence throughout the world and the success of this plan might steam from the users accepting and using their app and from other competitors being unable to make something better.
