The Knox Solution is a hit and has been already adopted by 4 million users since its launching two years ago, Samsung announced to the public. According to the company's vice president of B2B development team, IT and mobile communications business Young-Jip Kim, the adoption of Knox is gaining momentum within the enterprise solution market.
The number of users has dramatically risen since May last year where it had only 1.8 million active users. During that time, there are 87 million Knox-enabled devices in the world. It was also revealed by Samsung Senior Vice President and Head of Knox development that there are 24 Samsung models that are integrated with the solution.
Due to their Knox technology, the company has since been given clearance by several regulated industries and thus gained support from the UK government for public sector use and for classified use in the US.
Knox Solution was first launched in 2013 as part of Samsung's then latest model, the Galaxy S4. It was originally done so by the company as part of their efforts to address issues regarding Android security. And during the Samsung Galaxy S5 launch last May 2014, the public was treated to an updated version, Knox 2.0. The event also revealed the addition of the new Knox store that caters to those looking for enterprise apps.
The Samsung Knox technology aims to provide security features that enable consumers to divide their personal and work lives using the same smartphone. The user only needs to press an icon that switches their phone from personal to work use and vice versa without any waiting time or rebooting. The technology is reportedly similar to that of Blackberry's Balance feature.
In related news, Samsung and Blackberry has announced that they are going to enter a partnership of some sorts to work on their technologies. The plan is to integrate Samsung's Knox container and security platform with Blackberry's Worklife and SecuSuite. The announcement unveiled how the two companies have also previously worked with each other on other Knox integration programs.
