Samsung To Showcase Three Products From Its C-Lab Program in Next Year’s CES

Year 2015 is about to end, and most if not all are gearing up for the new year with a better version of themselves, and for companies, a better performance for their consumers. And some, especially those in the tech industry, are getting ready for the CES event. The CES event is the yearly global consumer electronic and consumer technology tradeshow that takes place during the first month of every year.

The latest product technology and planned services are usually showcased by companies participating in the event. This is a time for them to promote themselves and their products and services to every participant or visitor who joins or goes to the said event. Leading tech companies are always seen here. They tell what their consumers should expect from them throughout the year.

It is known that one of the big hotshots in today's tech industry is Samsung. The Korean tech company has been known for its chic and stylish smartphones and other innovative devices. Along with Apple and the upcoming ZTE company, it could be a top competitor, especially in the smartphone industry.

In this upcoming CES, it is expected that Samsung will be participating, bringing with them interesting devices from their Creative Lab (C-Lab) program. Samsung's C-Lab program is the start-up incubator within the company created to focus on developing its employees' experimental product ideas.

According to reports on the C-Lab program, employees can take a year off from their normal Samsung jobs to pursue their experimental ideas and/or projects. Promising inventions or devices out of this program can then allow employees to create their own companies and to promote and sell them to the public; if their business fails within five years, they are then welcomed back to Samsung. This program allows their employees to try out their creative juices and put those ideas into production without worrying about losing their jobs if they failed.

Reports are already going around that for the first time, this January, the Korean smartphone maker will be showing off three devices from the said program. The three new devices include a "smart belt" that helps track a user's waist size and activity, which is called "WELT." Another device included in next year's showcase is the "TipTalk," a product that enables users to listen to the sound from their smartwatches by simply touching their finger to their ear. Last but not the least is the device called "Rink," which is a motion controller made for virtual reality devices.

According to Samsung's Jai II Lee, who heads the C-Lab program, although every division in the end looks into the future of money making, they hope that with this program they can help their employees bring out their inner genius instead of hiding it within themselves. Currently, they have already identified nine projects that have a high potential for release this year. Lee has mentioned that among this nine, TipTalk has already been launched as an independent company.

Samsung has also about 70 C-Lab projects that have been completed and 40 others that are in the process of getting further developments. But aside from helping unleash their employees' potential, their ultimate aim is to be able to develop devices that could successfully be sold by the company.

With the trio of devices the company is launching in the CES event from its C-Lab division, it can show the CES attendees and the press that its products have potential, even though the WELT, TipTalk and Rink are literally still in the development process. One can only know in the future, so just wait till next year and see how the public reacts once they are launched.
