Windows 10: 6 Reasons Not To Upgrade To The Latest OS
Eve CesistaLoyal Microsoft users might want to think twice before upgrading to Windows 10. The viable reasons not to upgrade on the latest operating system have been creating a buzz on Internet.
The free upgrade is still up for grabs until July 29, but those who would like to double check whether their device can handle the changes may look on the explanations below:
1. Upgrading to Windows 10 is easy if the user meets the system requirements. The upgrade requires at least 20GB of open hard drive space to install the 64-bit version of Windows 10 (16GB for the 32-bit version).
The OS also needs a 1GHz or faster processor, 2GB of RAM (1GB for the 32-bit version), and a DirectX 9-capable video card with WDDM driver to operate smoothly. However, CNET noted that there are some ways to widen up the hard drive should the upgrade is critically needed.
2. Those who would love to keep their privacy may not want to switch to the new Windows 10. According to the website, the latest system has some "invasive behaviors" such as feedback automatically sent to Microsoft, among any other data gathering features that may affect its private settings.
3. Windows Media Center is opted out in the new Windows 10 so consumers who would like to keep it should not upgrade their systems.
4. Windows 10 also automatically install and download new updates each time a new fix launches. As a result, the freedom to choose when to update is gone. Plus, it can also affect the performance of the user's PC because the updates can also bring bugs and problems.
5. On the other hand, Kim Komando also listed that Windows 10 may not work well on video, printers, and more, especially if they're not Microsoft products. Software compatibility would be another issue.
6. Mostly, those who are afraid of the Blue Screen of Death message and other hard-to-understand error prompts may reconsider to stay with their current operating systems.
