'Watch Dogs 2': Five New Things To Watch Out For

Jazz Rosin

Ubisoft has just confirmed that "Watch Dogs 2" is real, and is coming very soon. The game boasts a lot of features not present in the previous "Watch Dogs" game, and here are some of the things fans should watch out for.

From Chicago to San Francisco

"Watch Dogs" moves out of Chicago and heads to the San Francisco Bay Area. "Watch Dogs 2" creative director Jonathan Morin said on the world premiere announcement video that San Francisco exudes a fresh tone, bringing the California vibe into the game.

According to Morin, San Francisco is renowned for innovation, with Silicon Valley just around the neighborhood. The open-mindedness of the people in San Francisco is very natural for the hacking culture.

Aiden is Out, Marcus is In

Hacker vigilante Aiden Pearce bows out of the spotlight and gives it to young aspiring hacker Marcus Holloway. Marcus grew up in Oakland, and being profiled incorrectly by "big brother" security system ctOS, he was jailed for a crime he did not commit. Marcus now sets on a mission to abolish the ctOS and give the control back to the people.

Forbes criticized Aiden's lack of personality, and considered him a forgettable character. Marcus, on the other hand, might prove to be the complete opposite, with his slick parkour moves, something that Aiden is not capable of.

DedSec Is Now Your New (Extended) Family

While Aiden is not part of DedSec, Marcus is, and he will be accompanied by a lot of members from DedSec's San Francisco chapter. There are over a million DedSec members in the area, so Marcus will not be alone.

Hack Everything, And Everyone (Even At The Same Time)

In the first "Watch Dogs", Aiden can only hack specific targets and gadgets. In "Watch Dogs 2", players can even hack into car systems. Marcus also has his own drone which can be used to drive near security panels to unlock them, or to scout for enemies in the area.

Another fun thing is Marcus can hack anyone in the game, and can even hack multiple people at the same time, which Ubisoft calls "mass hacking". "Why only hack one if you can hack them all?" Senior Producer Dominic Guay said.

The Whole San Fran Bay Is Yours

Players can roam around the massive "Watch Dogs 2" world without the need to unlock anything. Everything is unlocked on the onset of the game, so players can go wherever they want and practically do whatever they want to do.

"Watch Dogs 2" can also be played several ways, depending on the player's preference. They can choose to traipse around the area shooting every enemy in sight, or go through the game in "Assassin's Creed" stealth style. The gameplay possibilities are endless.

"Watch Dogs 2" will be out for PC, PS4 and Xbox One on November 15.
