Canon 5D Mark IV Rumors: Camera To Become A Powerful Video Recorder? Longer Battery Life Expected
Jenia GraciaRumor has it that Canon may have already passed on a few units of its 5D Mark IV to the company's reliable testers.
Although Canon has not yet released a statement on the camera's specs, there are speculations that it has been optimized for video recording, according to PC Tablet.
The highly-anticipated DSLR camera, whose release date has reportedly been set for August this year, will be priced lower than its other 4K counterparts.
There are speculations that the unit will feature 4K recording and 1080p video at 120FPS, using the DGIC processor (currently only available in the PowerShot G7 XII).
Other Canon DSLRs that are capable of 4K video recording are the 1D C, 1D X, and Mark II.
There are also rumors that the Mark IV will be equipped with a wide angle lens that will be both longer and faster as compared to its predecessors.
It will also reportedly have closer macro shooting that will improve on the camera's focus, built-in WiFi, remote shooting, and superior build quality.
Moreover, it is anticipated that the issues affecting the Mark II and III such as localized flare, slow burst mode when shooting RAW files, poor battery life, and average video quality have all been addressed in the Canon 5D Mark IV.
In the meantime, there have also been rumors that the Canon 5D Mark IV will feature both a CFast 2.0 slot and a SDXC UHS-II slot, according to Canon Rumors.
With these features, the latest iteration of the 5D makes a lot of sense, especially if the camera is going to shoot internal 4K like the Canon EOS-1D X Mark II.
Furthermore, the faster SD card slot will work wonders as the 5D Mark III used a standard SD card slot which was considered quite slow.
Expect more rumors on the 5D Mark IV to surface in the coming weeks leading to its release date.
