"Pokemon GO" is just everywhere. The mobile game sensation has taken over the world, considering the fact that it is only available in the US, Australia, and New Zealand for now.
New to the game and have no idea where to start? Here are a few tips on how to be the very best Pokemon trainer like no one ever was.
Understanding Where The Pokemon Are
In order to become a Pokemon master, you must be able to know where the Pokemon are located. Using the "nearby" tab at the bottom right of your screen, you will be able to determine how far the Pokemon is from your location.
The more "footprints" there are under the Pokemon, the farther it is. Three feet means it's far but can be found by foot.
If you have your eye on a particular Pokemon, try walking forward a few steps, then check your nearby tab again. If the number of footsteps increased, then turn around and repeat until you're close.
Catching A Pokemon
To effectively catch Pokemon, you must have full understanding of the colored circle that appears on your screen.
The smaller the circle, the higher the chances of winning. However, the Pokeball must be thrown inside the circle for best results. Throwing the Pokeball outside the colored circle, but still within the white one will still allow you to catch the Pokemon, but at a lower odds.
Additionally, the green circle will start changing colors: Green is easy, yellow is harder, and red is just really tough.
To sum it up, the circle must be green, really small, but big enough for you to throw your Pokeballs in.
Play At Different Times and Different Places
Different Pokemon spawn at different times a day, so if you want to expand your Pokedex, you have to catch some in the evening as well. A word of advice though: it is still dangerous to go out at night, so find a buddy and stay only in lit places if you can help it.
It would also defeat the purpose if you only catch Pokemon in one location, like your house. Go out and find another location you've never been to before, like a park or major landmarks. Chances are there will be a whole lot of new Pokemon there waiting for you.
Curve Balls
Curve balls are a fancy way of spicing up your Pokemon training, with extra exp to boot. To throw a curve ball, drag your thumb in a circle until the Pokeball starts to spin, then throw it.
Bring a Battery Pack
"Pokemon GO" will drain the life out of your battery pretty quick, so it would be wise to invest in a power bank if you don't have one yet.
