Xbox Backwards Compatibility: Bandai Namco To Include More 'Pac-Man' Games Soon
Jazz RosinMicrosoft has announced three additional games to the ever growing Xbox backwards compatibility list, and two of them are from Bandai Namco.
The first game is 1981 maze and driving arcade game "New Rally-X." The game is included in the Xbox 360 Live Arcade in 2006 and on the Wii Virtual Console in Japan in 2009.
It is also included in the Namco Museum Megamix for the Wii, which was released exclusively in North America.
The second game from Bandai Namco is the popular puzzle arcade game "Mr. Driller Online." The title is included in the Xbox Live Arcade and released in 2008 via Xbox Live Marketplace.
The gameplay involves drilling through colorful blocks. While it sounds fun, the online aspect of the game did not sit well with critics and gamers alike.
It looks like Namco Bandai is slowly adding more games to the Xbox Compatibility List. The publisher still have three games pending on the list, and these are all "Pac-Man" games.
"Pac-Man: Championship Edition," "Pac-Man: Championship Edition DX+" and "Ms. Pac-Man" is slated to be added to the list soon.
So far, the publisher has added a lot of its popular games to the list, including "Tekken Tag Tournament 2," "Soul Calibur II HD" and "Dark Souls."
In other news, Microsoft's Phil Spencer cheekily announced another title to be added to the list soon.
A Twitter user asked him whether a "Blue Dragon" Xbox Backward Compatibility is in the works, to which Spencer responded, "I'm not allowed to say but yes."
"Blue Dragon" is a classic RPG written by "Final Fantasy" legend Hironobu Sakaguchi.
The Xbox boss did not specify when the title will be added to the list, however.
The Xbox Backwards Compatibility List now boasts over 200 games in its libary. Visit the blog of Major Nelson for the full list here and stay tuned for more updates.
