Samsung July security update out for Galaxy J5, J5 2016 and S3 Neo
Shilpa ChakravortyGood news awaits Samsung fans, as Samsung Galaxy J5 2016 has received some improvements, albeit not anything major.
Notably, the Samsung Galaxy J5, S3 Neo, and J5 2016 version might not be in line for the Android Nougat update. However, they are in line for Samsung July security update, which is being rolled out for all three devices across Europe, followed by worldwide release.
Although the patch does come with some optimizations from Samsung, this update is entirely based on the July 1, and not July 5 update.
The update will reportedly fix the audio service exploit. The exploit previously allowed apps to access values in shared memory by enabling the audio service. However, it might take a couple of days before users are able to see the July security update for the devices, reported Updato.
Additionally, users can also check for the update manually by checking the Settings menu, About Device, Software Update and choosing Update Now.
If users are yet to see the OTA notification on Galaxy J5 or Galaxy S3 Neo handset, there is room to check for its availability manually. This needs users to go to the phone's Settings>About device>Software update>Update now.
Meanwhile, in other news, Samsung Galaxy J7 has also released a handset with new improvements. The 2016 Galaxy J7 is a 5.5-inch smartphone (151.7 x 76 x 7.8 mm) with Super AMOLED screen and 720 x 1280 pixels resolution (267 ppi pixel density).
The handset reportedly received an upgrade in term of resolution as its predecessor only boast 720p. J7 is equipped with 13 MP rear camera and 5 MP front camera; both with LED Flash, GSM Arena reported.
Thus, it seems that Samsung is all geared up for making its Samsung Galaxy J series up - to - date in terms of security and required features.
