Motorola Droid Razr HD Spied in the Wild

While not confirmed, the Droid Razr HD has now appeared in an EXIF data file from images upload by an apparent Motorola employee. The photos have since been removed, suggesting they could be genuine.

The photos stored on Picasa, The Verge said, are listed as being uploaded by Vic Yu. Yu, according to his Google Plus and LinkedIn profiles, is listed as an engineer and program manager at Motorola Mobility.

Rumors last month from Wall Street Journal columnist Dennis Berman said Google offered to sell Motorola Mobility for a "high price." Google replaced Motorola CEO Sanjay Jha with former advertisement sales executive Dennis Woodside.

The image also showed a camera with a f/2.4 aperture and focal length of 5mm. The phone will apparently run Android 4.0.3 Ice Cream Sandwich with the product name "Vanquish," which could be a codename.

The photo was taken with a six megapixel camera in a 16:9 aspect ratio. Other specs are unknown, but Motorola sells variants of the Motorola Razr in China that feature a 4.5-inch screen and 720p display. The "HD" moniker would suggest a 720p resolution at least.

This device would represent the third attempt by Motorola to revive the Razr brand, with the Motorola Droid Razr launching November last year on Verizon. It launched on a two-year contract for $199, running Android 2.3.6 Gingerbread (though the phone is upgradeable to Ice Cream Sandwich). The device has a 1.2 GHZ dual-core CPU, 1GB of RAM and 16GB of storage. It also features a 4.3 inch, 960x540 pixels, Super AMOLED display at 256 ppi. The phone also sports two cameras - an eight megapixels shooter on the back and a 1.3 megapixel lens on the front.

The Razr MAXX was the follow-up, which featured a higher capacity battery. The MAXX comes with a 3300mAh Li-Ion battery - an 85 percent increase in capacity over the 1780mAh battery in the original Droid Razr. The larger battery resulted in a thicker size, increasing the Razr MAXX's overall thickness to 8.9mm.
