'Tom Clancy's The Division': Ubisoft Tackles Game's Biggest Problems, Aims To Bring 'Shooter-Feeling' Back
J RoseUbisoft aims to revive the once popular online shooter game "Tom Clancy's The Division" with a huge update.
"The Division" was a commercial success when it was launched earlier this year, and has received tons of positive nods from critics and players alike. The game broke numerous sales records and has become Ubisoft's best-selling game, and has topped various sales charts in various countries around the world.
However, the online shooter slowly lost its spark, and has struggled to bounce back due to numerous bugs and glitches. Players have also expressed its concerns about the game's post-release content, and its DLC's have all been major disappointments so far.
In a bid to keep the title afloat, Ubisoft Massive now plans to make huge changes to the game, particularly its biggest issue: balance.
Ubisoft will be doing a lot of rebalancing on weapons and armor, as well as skills and some consumables. High End Gear Sets will also be tweaked so it would be used for "fun and specialised gameplay styles" rather than an actual measure of power. Changes will also be made so players will no longer rely on gear sets, allowing more freedom in choosing builds.
The devs has also decided to finally remove scavenging from the game, an issue that has been lingering for a long time.
Ubisoft aims to bring back the "shooter feel" of "The Division" by making major rebalancing on some of the weapons in the game.
"At first glance, it might look as if though we're just raising or lowering numbers across the board," Ubisoft said as a final note, "but mixed with the new enemy balancing and time to kill-changes detailed in our last development article, our goal is to make you feel more powerful once the update comes out."
Check out the patch notes here for a more detailed explanation on the future changes coming to "Tom Clancy's The Division." The game's Public Test Server will go live on Sept. 26.
