Audi RS3 Sedan: Can The Latest Model Rule The Compact Car Market? What You Need To Know
Anish AsokanThe compact luxury car segment just got more competitive with Audi unveiling the new RS3 sedan at the 2016 Paris Motor Show. From the first looks and reports, it looks like a great competitor for the likes of Mercedes AMG CLA45 and BMW M2.
The new compact sedan from Audi is powered by a 2.5-liter turbocharged five-cylinder engine capable of producing 400 horsepower. This generated power is harnessed with help of a seven-speed-dual-clutch transmission and all-wheel drive.
Although the top speed is limited to 155mph, the limit could be raised to 174mph based on the request. According to the Digital Trends, Audi claims that the acceleration from 0 to 62 mph can happen in 4.1 seconds.
The high-powered RS sedan will also sport aggressive bodywork as well. The Audi RS 3 borrows the A3 sedan body, though both rear and front tracks are wider than the A3 model. A fixed spoiler lip is present in the Audi RS 3 model for improved airflow as well as for looks.
Similar to other cars of the segment, the RS 3 model gets other performance upgrades as well. The popular Audi Drive Select system is also present in the model and helps in selecting multiple driving modes which could modify the actions of the steering, exhaust , engine management as well the car suspensions.
The latest sedan from Audi seems to have plenty of technology features apart from the looks of a hard-core performer as per Slash Gear. Availability of virtual cockpit, the MMI infotainment system with touchpad and a with driver assistance systems such as traffic jam assist system enhances the car technology. Smartphone integration is also present in the Audi RS3 Sedan.
The Audi RS3 sedan is expected to debut by end of the year and arrive at the US shores by summer. Stay tuned as we hear more on the car.
