iOS 10 Jailbreak News: Pangu, Et Al Still Quiet; $1.5 Million Reward To Whoever Creates A Working Jailbreak Tool
C. de LacyWith a prize to whoever cracks iOS 10's security, will people from around the globe be more attentive to the community's need of a working jailbreak tool?
As of the moment, no real news regarding the progress of an iOS 10 Jailbreak tool has been out. No update from Pangu, iH8sn0w, TaiG or anybody has surfaced for the past few weeks despite the iOS 10 receiving more than one update now.
With the recent news of Zerodium who, once again, offers a hefty sum of money that amounts to $1.5 million this time, hopes for an iOS 10 Jailbreak tool coming sooner have sparked once again.
According to BGR's report, just a couple of days ago, Zerodium makes the offer once again and decided to make it bigger this time. The goal is to crack the latest iOS 10 security. Wired reports that the money will go straight to anybody or group who will be able to remote jailbreak an iPhone running the latest iOS.
Bugging the latest Android Nougat this year can nab hackers up to $200,000, but this doesn't come close to the offer for the iOS 10.
"We've increased the price due to the increased security for both iOS 10 and Android 7," company founder Chaouki Bekrar told Wired. "We would like to attract more researchers all year long."
Also the founder of French hacking firm called Vupen, Bekrar, stated that the usual clients that Zerodium gets are those from North American govenrments and corporations as well as allied countries. Vupen is one of may companies that provides software intrusion services, mostly aimed for govenrment and private clients.
While this may not directly involve the community from nabbing the jailbreak tool for iOS 10, many believe that this will still affect the speed of things as leaks of information or techniques are very likely to happen.
Stay tuned for more news on the iOS 10 jailbreak scene.
