Samsung Galaxy S8: Big Changes In The Upcoming Galaxy Smartphone? Release Date, Specs & Features
Anish AsokanAlthough the Korean Giant is yet to officially announce the successor to the Galaxy S7, rumors and leaks have already become circulating about the new the Samsung Galaxy S8. According to CNet, the report from the Korean publication ETNews anticipates major changes in the upcoming Galaxy S8 model.
The first major rumor is the Samsung's plans to abandon the physical home button and opt for a full-screen display. This would also, in turn, eliminate the need of top and bottom bezels in the new smartphone.
The report also claims the new Samsung Galaxy S8 could be powered by a hybrid of Snap Dragon 830 and Samsung's own Exynos chip.
The other major speculation is the new device from Samsung would opt for a dual camera as seen with other competitors' flagship smartphones. There is a huge possibility of seeing some powerful camera specifications in the new model.
TechRadar speculates that the new Galaxy S8 apart from the powerful camera combo would be arriving in two variants, similar to its predecessor the Galaxy S7. The general anticipation is the screens would not be of a flat version but rather be of the curved style. The variants are expected to be around 5.1-inch and 5.5-inch sizes with a very much possible 4K displays. From a battery perspective, the speculation is that the new model should be coming out with powerful battery capacities perhaps around 4200mAH.
We also speculate Samsung to follow their Cupertino rival and abandon the 3.5 mm headphone port in the new Galaxy S8 model. There are rumors that Samsung is developing its own proprietary port to replace the industry standard 3.5 mm port.
From the initial leaks and rumors, its does seems that the next flagship smartphone from Samsung is going through some pretty big hardware changes. We do not see foresee any major surprises regards to the launch of the Galaxy S8. It should be launched in the normal schedule of February with the smartphone being available in the market from March. Samsung is also pretty sure to take care of the defects encountered in Note 7 model and ensure zero production defects in the new Samsung Galaxy S8.
