Nvidia GTX 1080 Ti vs AMD Radeon RX490: Which One Is Worth The Wait?
PrakashThe two highly anticipated chips in the market, the NVIDIA GTX 1080 Ti and the AMD Radeon RX 490, have already lead to a series of speculations about their key specs and features.
Though the release date has not been announced for any of the two graphic cards, the standoff of the NVIDIA GTx 1080 Ti vs AMD Radeon RX 490 is already intensifying based on leaks and rumors.
In terms of power consumptions, the AMD RX 490 consumes 225 Watts to run against 180 Watts for the GTX 1080 Ti. Also, AMD's GPU is expected to work slightly cooler because the RX 490 is 2 nm smaller than the GTX 1080 Ti.
However, AMD outscores with its powerful architecture with 12 teraflops, while Nvidia's only has 10. Even though the GTX 1080 Ti is expected to come with only 10 teraflops of power, its base clock is at 1,607 MHz and can be boosted to 1,733 MHz. With a memory of 12GB GDDR5X on a 320-bit bus, the product will definitely be a powerful competitor to the RX 490. The RX 490 is expected to have 16 GB HBM2, on a 4,906-bit bus . It is speculated by Videocardz that the AMD Radeon RX 490 would have 1,200 MHz base clock speed but the RX 490's boost clock is unknown.
Compared to the AMD Radeon RX 490, the NVIDIA GTX 1080 Ti is going to be based on the Pascal architecture released earlier in 2016. It will be the upgraded version of the GTX 1080 which happens to be the first ever Pascal-based chip.
The RX 490 could arrive as early as in November 2017, whereas the GTX 1080 Ti is expected to hit the shelves in early 2017. However, there is no clue about the price of either devices.
As of now, the specs mentioned din't give neither products an sharp edge over the other. Stay tuned for more updates.
