Untethered iOS 5.1.1 Jailbreak Arriving In 2 Weeks: Pod2g Clears All Doubts

Prarthito Maity

Pod2g has made announcement that he has successfully untethered jailbroken the new iPad (iPad 3) on iOS 5.1.1. The latest announcement has arrived after his last week's declaration that he had been successful to untether jailbreak iPhone 4 on iOS 5.1.

He also added that his iOS 5.1/5.1.1 untethered jailbreak will work on any iDevice like iPhone 4S, 4, iPad 3, iPad 2 and iPad 1, iPod touch 4G and Apple TV 2G running iOS 5.1 or 5.1.1. However, there are exceptions of iPhone 3GS and iPod touch 3G as these devices, as of now, won't be compatible with the upcoming jailbreak. And, the most important announcement that will make the jailbreak fans even happier is that the iOS 5.1.1 untethered jailbreak will be available within two weeks.

Pod2g has cleared all queries regarding the new jailbreak on his blog and here are some of the question and their answers -

The poll about releasing now or waiting for 6.0 ended with a 64% / 33% to release ASAP. Where is the link? ETA? How much % done? etc.
As I said earlier in twitter, there's still a lot to do to have a user friendly and well tested tool to install the jailbreak on end users devices. Expect a release in a couple of weeks.

Will it be compatible with any random iOS device?
It will be compatible with any device running iOS 5.1.1 except iPod 3G, iPhone 3Gs and ATV3 (right now, may change in a near future, nobody knows).

Why is it so slow to release now that the iPad 3 and 1 have been demoed?
There are 16 different devices out there to work on and to test. It takes time.

May I be a beta tester?
No, sorry. Only really trusted people (that can be counted on one hand) could have access to the jailbreak. I don't want any leak to happen.

What if I offer you 1,000,000$?
That doesn't change a thing.
