Microsoft Lumia 640 Shines Over Lumia 650 With More Color Options, But Lags In Processor, Camera & Build
PrakashThe Microsoft Lumia family has failed to impress most of its buyers with its Windows Operating System. Though Lumia carries the tag of Nokia, it has not performed well in the global market compared to their counterparts with Android OS. Let's take a look at the two Microsoft smartphones, the Lumia 650 and Lumia 640, to determine if they are worth buying.
The Lumia 650 was launched recently in February, while the 640 is more than one year old now. Microsoft has not changed the display in the Lumia phones, which has a 5.0" touch screen with 720X1280 resolution and a Gorilla Glass 3 protection. However, Lumia 650 comes with OLED touchscreen, while Lumia 640 has IPS LCD display.
The latest running software on both the phones is Windows 10. Though, Lumia 640 was launched with Windows 8.1, it received an upgrade.
In terms of processor, we can see a little upgrade in the latest model. The Lumia 650 comes with quad-core Snapdragon 212 with 1.3GHz clocking speed. On the other hand, Lumia 640, which comes in 4 variants boasts a quad-core Snapdragon 400 processor which has a clocking speed of 1.2Ghz.
The graphics cards are same in both. Lumia 650 has Adreno 304 while Lumia 640 has Adreno 305.
Though, Lumia phones were earlier known for the best Carl Zeiss lens, we can only see a 8MP primary camera with LED flash coupled with only 1MP front-facing camera in Lumia 640. However, we get a little upgrade in Lumia 650 with 5MP selfie camera but the primary camera remains same with similar features like f/2.2 aperture and autofocus.
The Lumia 640 has a bigger and better battery with 2500mAH than the Lumia 650 which has only 2000mAH battery. Both are removable.
We get more color options with the Lumia 640 like Glossy cyan, Orange, White, Matte black, while its younger counterpart is limited to only Black, White color option.
The Microsoft Lumia 640 is a better option, but it is priced higher than the Lumia 650. Choose wisely and stay tuned for more comparisons.
