For a very long time, fans haven't heard a lot of news regarding "Dead Island 2" since "Dying Light" and the announcement last year. With the recent updates, however, things are getting more interesting as the development progress might be moving along just fine.

As recently reported by wwg.com, fans may actually see "Dead Island 2" coming to life in its undead form sooner or later. With the new developer, Sumo Digital, even more changes are being brought in the game as it was before with Techland.

Koch Media CEO Klemens Kundratitz made his remarks regarding the development progress of the game (via Issu):

"Dead Island is a very key IP for us," he said. "It put us on the map in the first place. We have big plans for the franchise with several projects in development. Dead Island 2 is obviously announced and is making fantastic progress at Sumo. We're looking forward to showing off the game to our fans when it is ready."

For those who have been waiting for an actual update, this, indeed, was more than what Deep Silver had been providing the game's fans for the longest time. Sumo is definitely hard at work with working on "Dead Island 2" and this smashes any rumors regarding the series dying since "Dying Light."

On top of this, Kundratitz also mentioned something about a mobile game in the works, which also lies within the same "Dead Island" universe. However, details aren't given out just yet aside from the announcement

"I can tell you we are also working on a mobile game under the IP, which we will have more to say about in a little while," he told MCV. "That's just two things that are happening on the IP. As I said, the franchise has our full attention."

There's some good chance that fans will see some "Dead Island 2" in 2017, though it is still too early to tell if a finished game will also happen in the same year. Be sure to stay tuned for more "Dead Island 2" news and updates.
