Xbox One Backwards Compatibility Update: 'Burnout Paradise,' 'Rayman Legends' Added To The List
J RoseIn case you missed it, Microsoft has added three new titles to its expanding library of Xbox One backwards compatible titles this week.
As announced by Xbox Live director of programming Larry "Major Nelson" Hryb on his site, a few new games have joined the growing Xbox One backwards compatibility list.
The first title added is Ubisoft's 2013 platformer "Rayman Legends." The fifth main game in the popular "Rayman" series was first released for PC, Xbox 360, Playstation 3, Nintendo Wii U and Playstation Vita. The Playstation 4 and Xbox One versions were released less than a year later, Feb. 2014.
"Rayman Legends" was received positively by critics and players alike, with Edge Magazine calling it "one of the most jubilant, vividly imagined and open-hearted platformers to come along in a long time."
Despite the critical acclaim, however, the game has failed to meet Ubisoft's sales expectations, Eurogamer reported during that time, along with another title "Splinter Cell: Blacklist."
The second game is hit racing game "Burnout Paradise." Originally released in 2008 for PC, Playstation 3 and Xbox 360, the game is the first ever "Burnout" title to feature open world gameplay.
The racing game also won several nods and recognitions, getting various Best Driving / Racing Game awards from Gamespot, Spike TV and GameTrailers.
The third title is another critically acclaimed racing game, off-road quad-bike game "Pure."
Published by Disney Interactive Studios and developed by the now defunct Black Rock Studio in 2008, the game was awarded Best Racing Game of E32008 by the Game Critics Awards, Editors' Choice Award from Official Xbox Magazine, Best Driving Game from GameTrailers.com and Best Racing Game on Xbox 360 from IGN.
Last week, two new games were also added to the list recently., "Military Madness" and "Omega Five," both published by Hudson Entertainment. Meanwhile, Treyarch's popular shooter "Call of Duty: Black Ops II" remains as the fans' most requested game to be added to the Xbox One backwards compatibility list.
