'Homefront : The Revolution' Review: Game Is 'Less Of A Success' Than Expected, Deep Silver Admits
J Rose"Homefront: The Revoultion" publisher Deep Silver has admitted that they have made a mistake to release the game, making the game less successful than expected.
The publisher has admitted that releasing "Homefront: The Revolution" early was a huge error on their end, and has affected the shooter title in a big way.
"We have learnt some big lessons from 'Homefront'," Deep Silver global brand and marketing director Paul Nicholls told MCV in an interview.
"You can see in the market at the moment, quality is absolutely king and some big IPs have struggling figures at the moment," the director continued. "We learnt a lot of lessons about what to do going forward. Not just the quality of the product, but when we launch as well."
The game was supposed to come out in 2015, according to VG 24/7, but was delayed to May 2016 following Deep Silver's relaunching of Crytek UK to Deep Silver Dambuster Studios. Despite the change in release date, however, it looks like "Homefront: The Revolution" was still not ready to be launched by then.
Nevertheless, Deep Silver praised Dambuster Studios' efforts to create fixes and patches for the game, saying that the developers did a "fantastic job" for slightly turning the tide around.
Nicholls concluded that the timing of the game's release has dealt a heavy blow, and has become "the biggest lesson" the team has learned.
Speaking on the "Homefront: The Revolution" forums post-launch, Dambuster Studios has also admitted that the game, especially the performance at launch, was not what the team wanted it to be.
Due to these issues, "Homefront: The Revolution received poor reviews across all platforms, getting a score of 54 for the PC, 48 on the PlayStation 4 and 49 on the Xbox One on review aggregator Metacritic.
