'Call Of Duty: Black Ops 3' vs 'Tom Clancy's The Division' Review: Games Barely Comparable, But Which One Would You Get?
C. de LacyWhile "Call of Duty: Black Ops 3" and "The Division" are both shooters, they are hardly the same, and comparing them as games under the same genre is extremely hard. Still, here's a quick comparison of the two along with their respective pros and cons.
"Call of Duty: Black Ops 3" is a game focused on both single player and multiplayer experiences. Saying that "COD: Black Ops 3" is a better game in this category is hard without sounding like a fanboy, but even with the recent update of "The Division" it actually is still the case, especially with COD's single player campaign.
However, unlike "Call of Duty: Black Ops 3," "The Division" has a different approach in multiplayer and mostly, players get to work with each other for a common goal and not by shooting each others' heads out. For those looking for a more in-depth RPG-like and team-based gameplay, "The Division" might cut it more than the other.
Another thing to set "Call of Duty: Black Ops 3" from "The Division" is the way that matches are set up. In COD, matches are fast, furious and easily done in about a few minutes or so depending on the players' skills. Maps aren't exactly large and this isn't a bad thing either. That's how it is designed.
"The Division" on the other hand is more complex and is set in an open-world setting. There are tons of approaches possible, making it more diversified. With the recent patch, it may even be more stable though this might not be good for those looking for short bursts.
As for the similarities, it would also be hard not to say that the communities are different. We all have the toxic part of the communities as well as those who are nice, which hopefully pushes the games' reputations to the better-looking side.
Still, comparing "Call of Duty: Black Ops 3" and "The Division" is like comparing apples and oranges. They're two different games, which target almost the same audience. For some action-packed shooting on shorter bursts, "Black Ops 3" is better. For customization, immersion, and overall complexity, "The Division" may be the better choice.
