Android Nougat Update For Huawei P9, Mate 8, Honor 8 Release Date In The Next Few Days?
Gio C.Recent rumors suggest that Huawei will be rolling out the Android 7.0 (Nougat) update for the P9, Mate 8, and Honor 8 very soon.
In a report by Phone Arena, sources from China suggest that the Nougat update for Huawei P9 and Mate 8 are now live and assures that they are not the beta builds pushed to a few qualified users.
However, the company's recently-leaked Android update roadmap confirms only one thing: the update is, for now, exclusive to the China region.
The leaked documents were reported to be originated from Huawei themselves, and contains specific build numbers B352 for the Huawei P9 and B552 for the Mate 8. Users in China may begin upgrading the said devices to the latest builds - although certain features may not be fully ready for the international user base, including a fully-translated menu for English-language users.
Huawei recently revealed that the rollout of EMUI version 5.0, the company's customized user interface for Android N, will be rolled out sometime in early 2017. However, with this early rollout in China, international users of the Mate 8 and P9 are expecting the global rollout of Android N to be earlier than the announced date.
A guide by Tech Times has been released for Huawei Mate 8 owners who cannot wait to upgrade their phones to Android N and would like to try upgrading their system software via the server method. Other Huawei phones, namely the P9 Plus, P9 lite, Nova and Nova Plus would also get an Android N update, although on a slightly later date.
Meanwhile, Huawei teamed up with XDA Developers to recruit beta testers for Honor 8's Android N update. Beta-testing for the Honor 8's Android 7.0 software started last month, and around 60 applicants were selected for a chance to test a beta version of the software before its release.
As of press time, there are no details regarding the Honor 8's Android N rollout. Still, the tech company is committed to deliver updates and new features every three months, and support for individual brands for up to two years.
For more details about the Huawei devices' upcoming Android Nougat update, stay tuned.
