Apple MacBook Pro 2016 Battery Life Claims Proved False; How To Test Battery Life Of Your New MacBook Pro [VIDEO]
Vinay PatelLooks like the much-lauded Apple MacBook Pro 2016 is not spared from flaws. The portable computer made its highly anticipated debut earlier this year, but since has found itself surrounded by complaints.
It was the Cupertino-based tech firm's "revolutionary" new device that popularized dongle hell and surprisingly, that alone has created more heat than light for Apple MacBook Pro. Now, recent reports about Apple MacBook Pro 2016 point out several glitches in the gadget --- including the lack of an SD card slot, USB port, and MagSafe connector. People have been complaining about the device's steep price as well.
While the aforesaid reports are still running rampant all over the internet, another complaint brought to light by 9To5Mac debunks one of Apple's biggest claims about the MacBook Pro with Touch Bar's 13-inch variant. Apple guarantees an up to 10 hours iTunes movie playback with the said model, noting that the test was conducted on a 13-inch MacBook Pro powered by 2.9GHz dual-core Intel Core i5 with 8GB of RAM and a 512GB SSD.
As far as test systems are concerned, that's quite a basic system to test on and an assurance of 10 hours of video playback is nothing short of commendable. However, when the publication put Apple MacBook Pro 2016 --- with 3.3GHz Intel i7 and 16GB of RAM --- to the test, the battery barely managed to cross the 8-hour mark.
If this information is anything to go by, consumers should expect Apple MacBook Pro with the i7 to perform comparatively inferior to the i5-based MacBook Pro used by Apple. In other words, the MacBook Pro's 13-inch model offers 20 percent less battery life than Apple claims.
On the bright side, Apple MacBook Pro 2016 sports a much-talked about feature dubbed as the Touch Bar; this is what gives it an edge over other similar devices, MacRumors reported.
Its multi-touch OLED display panel also facilitates visual settings and contextual controls. Third-party developers and current Apple apps can make the most out of this new feature.
