Gadgets are just getting bigger day by day in terms of screen size. Smartphones with 4.7- and 5.3-inch display are trending in the market. On the other hand, the standard size for most tablets is fixed at 10 inches. However, if the latest reports are to be believed, a monstrous 22-inch Android tablet manufactured by ViewSonic is on the way.
Folks over at Engadget have received a media invitation for Computex 2012 conference from ViewSonic. ViewSonic teases a new 22-inch tablet in the invite which appears to be running Google's latest mobile operating system Android 4.0 ICS. The tablet also shows off an image editor in the invtation.
ViewSonic promotes the 22-inch behemoth as "Touch and Connect" series tablet. Touch surely correlates to the touch interface, but it is unclear what ViewSonic is trying to indicate with "Connect" keyword. It might mean superior connectivity features like 4G LTE network support. Nothing is quite sure about the hardware configuration. However, the sudden emergence of a monstrous tablet with more than double the size of normal tablet has shaken up the market.
One thing is certain - the screen size for tablets is going to increase significantly. Earlier this month, Microsoft VP Frank Shaw revealed in a statement to wired.co.uk that company's CEO Steve Ballmer has an 80-inch tablet in his office, which will eventually be released in the market in upcoming months. ViewSonic's 22-inch tablet will be a dwarf in front of Microsoft's slate.
ViewSonic's 22-inch Android tablet will debut at the Computex event that starts on June 5 in Taipei. The pricing and other features of this tablet are unknown. The 22-inch tablet is probably designed for business usage and is likely to be priced above $1000.
ViewSonic also hinted some other products too, which will be launched at Taipei's Computex event. The California-based manufacturer is expected to release a new cloud computing solution, interactive electronic billboard, high-end laser protectors and a Windows 8 multi-touch device like Ballmer's 80-inch tablet.
