The Google Keyboard App Just Got A Makeover: Gboard Is Now Available For Android
Cris Xander JulianoGoogle Android fans will get a whole new experience with its latest keyboard app, the Gboard. First introduced to the iOS six months ago, Android users can now use it on their devices.
TechCrunch reported that the new app will include the same features as its iOS counterpart. Rather than changing the overall experience, Android focused on key areas such as polishing the app and acknowledging a few of its user concerns.
One of its new features is being able to search on Google within Gboard itself and without having to open another app. You can also share right away what you have just searched on Gboard to other channels. This is quite useful, for example, when you are chatting with someone and you are looking for a place to eat. All you need to do is tap the Google logo on the left side of the Gboard app and it will immediately put you on its built-in search bar to look for restaurants. Once the results are shown, tap the send button to the person you are talking to and he/she will receive the searched information about your choice of restaurant.
In addition, the keyboard app can predict possible searches based on the topic you and your friend are talking about. Let's say, you and your friend are talking about the weather. Gboard may offer predictions on "weather" for you to share with your friend.
Moreover, Google stated that it has made improvements on glide typing, predictions, and autocorrections. Multilingual users will also find it easier to use because the keyboard app can now suggest and autocorrect from any language of your choice, thus allowing you to type something in multiple languages. Google is working on 100 languages and more will be available in the coming months as well.
Furthermore, the new Gboard app has a built-in emoji and .gif search that makes it easier and faster to find the correct emoji or .gif image you may want to use on your messages and other conversations.
Gboard is now available for download on Google Play.
