LG V20 Issues: Company Blames Fake USB-Type C Cables For Bootloop Problem
Charles LimLG is considered to be one of the best smartphone manufacturers in the world, as evident in its quality and competitive products. But just like its biggest competitors, the company also encounters bumps along the way.
Some of the previously released LG G4 smartphones had issues with its operating system being stuck in a bootloop. Now, it seems like it's happening once again with the company's latest flagship: the LG V20.
Earlier this year, the company had acknowledged that it was aware of the LG G4's bootlooping problem and that it was likely caused by a hardware issue. The official statements from the company had pinpointed a loose contact between components that needed to be addressed. Fortunately, LG committed to fix and replace any affected devices during that time.
But now, with the same problem rearing its ugly head once again on LG V20, the company has come out with an entirely new reason as to why the bootloops are occurring. According to an LG official, the bootloop issue in the new V20 is likely caused by consumers who are using fake USB Type-C cables with their devices. The knock-off USB Type-C cable is apparently the one to blame, especially if it is not made of quality build.
The bootloop issue essentially causes smartphones to restart and boot into recovery mode, instead of normal mode. Users experiencing this problem will not be able to fully boot into Android, thus making their devices unusable.
Some users, however, are hesitant with LG's reasoning. A Reddit user named Nathan K even mentioned that a bootlooping problem is unlikely to be caused by a third-party USB Type-C cable, but it could still happen under exceptional situations. LG has yet to announce whether it would be providing free assistance to users experiencing this problem or it would stick to its USB Type-C cable excuse and have consumers deal with the problem on their own.
