'Street Fighter V' Season 2 Update: First Patch For The New Season Is Here; Capcom Adds Character Balance and Penalty System For Game Quitters
Louise BonquinStreet Fighter V Season 2 started last Dec. 20 and Capcom has updated the game by adding lots of fresh content, which are intended to give players a better gaming experience in 2017.
The first update for the Street Fighter V Season 2 was officially released this festive month of December, thus some holiday themes and costumes. However, the most intriguing content is probably the newly-introduced "rage quit system" for players.
This new system is a punishment scheme designed to prevent players from suddenly disconnecting from the game when they are about to lose or for some other reasons. As a penalty for leaving an ongoing game on purpose, Capcom will place a special badge/icon beside the offenders' names --- to let others know that the player is a quitter.
Other improvements that the new Street Fighter V update brought to the game include changes in character balance and common things like allowing players to modify the background music during fights. The most anticipated content in this patch however, is actually the character balance since it offers changes on how characters fight in the gameplay.
The complete changelog and specific character changes were listed down by Capcom and was made available for players. The file is in PDF form and can be downloaded for reference. Meanwhile, it was reported that the Street Fighter V Season 2's servers went down and maintenance work was scheduled at 11 a.m. today. The downtime did not last long, but the players were curious about the cause.
In response, officials from Capcom used the Street Fighter Twitter account to inform players about the sudden requirement for server maintenance. They further tweeted that the server is now back to normal and the fix was caused by the needed reset for the rage quit system.
